What Merchandising intern do ?

Merchandising interns typically assist the merchandising team with a variety of important tasks that help ensure products are planned, stocked, and displayed effectively to meet customer demand and business goals.

As an intern merchandiser, here is how I would describe my experience after completing the internship:

"During my merchandising internship, I gained invaluable hands-on experience in understanding how products move from the buying stage to the customer. My daily tasks involved handling the sampling department💪💪, and coordinating with different teams such as buying and design.

I learned the entire process from taking the order to sending the prototype sample to the buyer. First, the senior merchandiser used to take the order and confirm it with the buyer. Then, based on the tech pack sent by the buyer, the pattern and trims were prepared and. To create the first pattern, we would email the CAD team. After that, we arranged the fabric from the fabric stores and collected threads and all the trims from the trim store. Once the pattern was complete, it was confirmed and then sent for cutting. After cutting it get stitched, and also most important we have to prepare 2 samples of the garment , one for counter( a sample for our company as a proof) and one for buyer .

One of the most rewarding parts was contributing to assortment planning and seeing how data-driven decisions impact real business outcomes. The fast-paced environment taught me to be detail-oriented and proactive, especially when managing deadlines and supplier communications. Overall, the internship gave me a practical insight into the retail fashion industry and strengthened my passion for a career in merchandising. It was challenging but equally rewarding, and I feel much more prepared for future roles in this field😊 ."
